I recently started blogging using wordpress, because its so quick and simple I have already tested many different plug-ins, below are 15 plug-ins that I am currently using and would recommend.
Akismet
Checks your comments for spam although sometimes comments that aren’t spam get caught, which is why you should check your spam queue. This plug-in is a must have for every blog.
All in One SEO Pack
Helps make optimization of your blog simple and easy.
Digg Digg
Displays a Digg, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, dZone, Yahoo Buzz, and Polladium button to help
your readers share your posts.
Easy Adsense
Provides an easy way to display google ads on your blog.
Feedburner Feedsmith
Have a feeling you have more RSS subscribers than is being displayed? I did and it took me a few weeks to realize feedburner was only counting email subscribers. With feedsmith all your feeds are redirected to feedburner.com.
Google XML Sitemaps
Generates an XML sitemap for your blog which helps search engines index your blog faster and notifies search engines whenever you add a new page or post.
Homepage Excerpts
Helps make your blog more search engine friendly by shorting full posts on your main page so its not considered duplicate content.
NextGEN Gallery
Great plug in that allows you to easily display image galleries on your blog.
SocioFluid
Displays some cool little buttons to several different social networks on your page.
Thumbnail For Excerpts
Automatically adds a thumbnail from an image displayed on your post to your excerpts.
